چکیده

Blackgram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper) yields are noticeably poor due to a shortage of improved varieties and an aggravated narrow genetic base. An attempt was made isolate novel blackgram mutants by selecting for yield-related traits derived through gamma irradiation testing the mutant genotype’s stability across different environments. The irradiated populations M1-M5 were established in background cultivars ADT 3, Co 6, TU 17-9. Desirable selected from M3 M5 generations. It observed M2 that rays showed higher mutagenic efficacy generated good inherited variance traits. M4 three divergent groups each cultivar revealed clustering analysis. number pods per plant, clusters cluster strong direct association with single plant yield could be considered as selection G × E interactions than variation genotype yield. Limited environmental interaction genotypes G24, G16, G36, G30, G17, AMMI, G18 G29, GGE. GGE biplot environment-specific G13 E1 (Aduthurai), G7 E2 (Kattuthottam), G34 E3 (Vamban) also portrayed highly discriminating (E3) representative (E2) Selected this research useful stocks improvement breeding.

Relationship of Induced Variability with Production of High Yielding Mutants in Blackgram [vigna Mungo (l.) Hepper]

Three doses each of Gamma – rays, EMS, NG, MH and in combination were administered to the seeds of morphologically and genetically distinct blackgram varieties, PU-30 and Sarala In M2 generation most treatment populations exhibited reduction in mean and increase in variance for all six quantitative traits and among the mutagens NG and combined treatments induced more variability in both the var...

Correlation and Path Coefficient Analysis for Yield and Yield Components in Blackgram (vigna Mungo (l.) Hepper)

Correlation coefficient and path analysis studies was conducted with eight parents and their 28 F1 crosses for twelve component characters including seed yield and revealed significant positive association of pods per plant, harvest index and clusters per plant with seed yield in parental generation whereas in F1 generation, significant positive association of clusters per plant, pods per plant...

Inheritance of Qualitative Traits and Their Linkage in Blackgram [vigna Mungo (l.) Hepper]

Four parents (Mash 1, Mash 3, MM 33-40, and 45726) were used to study inheritance of four qualitative characters, i.e., pubescence, seed coat colour, presence of spots on the seed coat and pod colour. All the four traits revealed monogenic nature of inheritance segregating in Mandelian ratio (3:1). The hairiness pattern was observed dominant over non-hairiness; brown seed coat colour dominant o...

Direct Plant Regeneration from Cotyledonary Explants of Blackgram (vigna Mungo L.) Hepper

The present study was undertaken to investigate the possibility for developing Efficient Plant regeneration protocol in Vigno mungo L. For this, the effect of Cytokinens on in vitro regeneration from Cotyledonary explants was studied in Black gram (Vigno mungo L.) Hepper Var Vamban-1. The cytokinins used were 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP), Thidiazuron (TDZ), and kinetin (Kn). The regenerated shoots...
